Een luitsoirée bij Saizenay

The French chamber music repertoire of the seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries - 'le Grand Siècle' - contains an impressive amount of compositions for lute and theorbo.

Two of the richest collections were created by Jean Etienne Vaudry, 'Seigneur de Saizenay et de Poupet'. The collections of this nobleman, parliamentarian and enthusiastic amateur musician, cover almost the entire history of the French baroque, and in addition to well-known crown jewels, they also contain hidden treasures. Intimate, eloquent, scorching virtuoso but blood-curdling: to be noted in your concert calendar.
