Marvin Frey, born in 1993 in Germany, received a fundamental musical education at the music highschool of Rhineland-Palatinate, located in Montabaur. Subsequently he studied jazz trumpet at the conservatory of Maastricht with Rob Bruynen and Carlo Nardozza. His dedication to big band music began during his schooldays, when he participated in the school big band and the youth state big band of Rhineland-Palatinate, which lead to his membership in the youth jazz orchestra of the Federal Republic of Germany, nowadays making him a popular temporary help in an array of big band projects and big bands.
Besides that he participated in and co-founded many different small jazz ensembles - between New Orleans Jazz, Mainstream Dinner and Bar Jazz and Jazz Duos that are musically located in between traditional, modern jazz, sound art and free improvisation.
Beside an almost limitless stylistic open-mindedness, sound-virtuosity and a deep emotional meaningfulness are two of the main characteristics of Marvin Freys musical work. Two factors which are always subject to technical refinement as a means to an end.
Marvin Frey has won multiple prizes in different german and international youth jazz competitions and had the honour to play with great jazz musicians such as Till Brönner, Claus Doldinger, the Brussels Jazz Orchestra and Nils Landgren and many others.
Concert tours already took him to Germany, Belgium, France, Sweden, Switzerland, England, China, India, Bolivia and Equador .
