Mendelssohn & Bruch door 70 studenten uit 30 landen

Symfonieorkest Conservatorium Maastricht onder leiding van Arjen Tien

 

Met 70 studenten, afkomstig uit meer dan 30 verschillende landen, speelt het Conservatorium Maastricht Orkest op zondag 28 oktober 2018 om 20.00 uur onder leiding van dirigent Arjen Tien het volgende programma op: Die Hebriden van Felix Mendelssohn, Schotse Fantasie op.46 van Max Bruch en Symphony no. 3 van Felix Mendelssohn. Solist is Boris Belkin (viool).

Dirigent Arjan Tien
Arjen Tien is een van de meest actieve en veelzijdige Nederlandse dirigenten van zijn generatie. Hij werkt regelmatig met het Metropole Orkest, waarmee hij verschillende cd’s en dvd’s uitbracht. In 2010 leidde hij de tournee van het Nederlands Studenten Orkest in Nederland en Istanbul. Hij dirigeerde verschillende opera producties. In 1997 werd hem de Rotary-Faller prijs toegekend in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Zwitserland. Als regelmatig terugkerende gastdirigent wordt hij door vele orkesten in het binnen- en buitenland gevraagd en trad op in Brazilië, Duitsland, Hongarije, Griekenland, Oostenrijk, Slovenië, Turkije, Zweden, Zwitserland en Zuid-Afrika. Sinds 2014 is hij hoofdvakdocent orkestdirectie aan Conservatorium Maastricht.

Violist Boris Belkin
Boris Belkin (1948) behoort tot de topviolisten ter wereld. Hij stond als zevenjarig wonderkind al op het podium met dirigent Kyrill Kondrashin. Belkin studeerde aan het conservatorium in Moskou bij Yuri Yankelevich en Felix Andrievsky. Tijdens zijn studie trad hij op in de hele Sovjetunie met de beste orkesten.

In 1974 emigreerde hij naar Europa en sindsdien speelt hij over de hele wereld met prominente orkesten als het Salzburg Orchestra, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Royal Philharmonic, Scottish National Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, Berlin Philharmonic, Israel Philharmonic, Concertgebouworkest etc, onder leiding van vele bekende dirigenten, onder wie Leonard Bernstein en Bernard Haitink. Hij maakte vele cd’s en televisieregistraties. 
Belkin wijdt zich tevens aan de kamermuziek, zo werkt hij met musici als Yuri Bashmet en Mischa Maisky. Sinds is Boris Belkin als docent viool verbonden aan Conservatorium Maastricht. Daarnaast geeft hij regelmatig masterclasses aan de Accademia Chigiana in Siena, Italië.

Conductor Arjan Tien

Arjen Tien is one of the most active and versatile Dutch conductors of his generation. He regularly works with the Metropole Orkest, with which he released various CDs and DVDs. In 2010 he led the tour of the Dutch Student Orchestra in the Netherlands and Istanbul. He conducted several opera productions. In 1997 he was awarded the Rotary Faller prize in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. As a regular guest conductor, he is asked by many orchestras at home and abroad and has performed in Brazil, Germany, Hungary, Greece, Austria, Slovenia, Turkey, Sweden, Switzerland and South Africa. Since 2014 he has been principal subject teacher in orchestral conducting at the Maastricht Academy of Music.

Boris Belkin (1948) is one of the top violinists in the world. As a seven-year prodigy, he was already on stage with conductor Kyrill Kondrashin. Belkin studied at the conservatory in Moscow with Yuri Yankelevich and Felix Andrievsky. During his studies he performed in the entire Soviet Union with the best orchestras.

 

In 1974 he emigrated to Europe and since then he has played with prominent orchestras such as the Salzburg Orchestra, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Royal Philharmonic, Scottish National Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, Berlin Philharmonic, Israel Philharmonic, Concertgebouw Orchestra etc , led by many well-known conductors, among whom Leonard Bernstein and Bernard Haitink. He made many CDs and television registrations.

Belkin also devotes himself to chamber music, as he works with musicians such as Yuri Bashmet and Mischa Maisky. Since then, Boris Belkin has been a violin teacher at the Maastricht Academy of Music. In addition, he regularly gives master classes at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, Italy.
