Muziek in het Bonnefanten
Dudok Kwartet Amsterdam
The Amsterdam Dudok Quartet, named after the fellow cityman who mainly won fame as an architect in Hilversum, brings a complete 20th-century program at Aldo Rossi's Bonnefantenmuseum. Two Ligetis form the frame symmetrically every 21 minutes. Ligeti composed his first quartet before his flight to the West after the failed Hungarian uprising of 1956. His second one dates from another revolution year: 1968. Hartmann wrote his first quartet in the also historical year 1933. He would not flee Nazi Germany, but seek refuge in 'innermost Emigration'.
