75 jaar, zo wijd de wereld strekt
Marinierskapel der Koninklijke Marine

75 years, as wide as the world goes, Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy
On August 1st, 2020 it was exactly 75 years ago that the former Secretary of the Navy decided to re-establish the Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy.
Back in 1864 the regimental band of the Royal Navy was established. It was dissolved in 1940 due to the involvement of the Netherlands in World War II. After the liberation of the Netherlands 18 former members of the regimental band reported themselves in Rotterdam. On the 1st of August 1945 this led to a new orchestra: de Marinierskapel der Koninklijke Marine (Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy).
In this anniversary year a variety of ensembles of the Marine Band perform the programme, 75 years, as wide as the world goes. A selection of the extended repertoire from the world famous orchestra. This time, however, in a small line-up.
