The French conductor and timbre magician, Marc Soustrot is once again the guest of honor at philharmonie zuidnederland. Like no other, he sheds new light on the heavenly harmonies of Mahler's Fourth Symphony.
In this visionary sound poem about heaven and earth, Mahler unfolds paradise through the eyes of a child. Prior to this symphony, perhaps the most beautiful music ever written for a female voice and orchestra. The renowned Swedish soprano Camilla Tilling will star in a selection of songs by Richard Strauss. It is always dangerous to answer the question whether there is more between heaven and earth but with this program, philharmonie zuidnederland has certainly risen to unprecedented heights.
