Dutch choreographer Nils Christe created his first choreography for Introdans 40 years ago. In honor of this anniversary Introdans presents the Celebrating Nils program, which combines three of Christe's hit productions: Fünf Gedichte, CANTUS and Le Sacre du Printemps.
Fünf Gedichte is a wonderful, silent ode to the transition from life to death, inspired by Richard Wagner's romantic Wesendonck Lieder. Against the backdrop of a Dutch cloud sky, Christe created an extremely delicate, but at the same time powerful work.
CANTUS (2015) is the most recent ballet Christe made for Introdans. The choreography, set on various compositions by Arvo Pärt, contains beautiful intimate, tranquil moments, but most of the time power and dynamics burst of the stage.
To top it all off Christe's widely acclaimed Le Sacre du Printemps, based on the iconic composition by Igor Stravinsky. In his magisterial magnum opus, Christe found a very individual, original entrance into the extremely complex music and the accompanying story about the ritual sacrifice of a virgin.
