Threesome

Exhibition_-_Connor_Schumacher_foto_Robert_Benschop[1].jpg

Threesome is an immersive experience from choreographer Connor Schumacher who leads you into his world as maker. Schumacher has been nominated this year for the Dutch Dance Festival Maastricht Prize. Threesome is a triple bill that opens with his successful piece Exhibition from Krisztina [de Chatel]’s Keuze 2. You then see Asset, Liability & Equity that he developed for Conny Janssen Danst and the production ends with The Fool Plays with Himself. Three masterpieces in one programme.

Exhibition is an exhibition of the highpoints in the personal lives of the two performers. They draw their inspiration from various contexts in which one element is central: relationships. Hardcore and in your face; the world the way it is. Connor Schumacher developed this production in collaboration with De Châtel sur Place and Dansateliers forKrisztina’s Keuze 2.

In Asset, Liability, Equity, he transforms the three elements of the balance sheet in accounting into a violent power struggle. His very individual and performative style is influenced by jazz and the musical resulting in absurd, humorous and abrasive scenes.

Connor closes his trilogy with The Fool Plays with Himself. The fool in this performance is Connor Schumacher’s alter ego; a character who reacts frankly in every situation he finds himself in. He dives into the archive of the human body, thinks out loud, isn’t shy of humour and guides you into his, and at the same time, your own, body and spirit. Give him an inch and the fool will take a mile!
