Korzo and the BNG Cultuurfonds present the winners of the BNG Bank Dansprijs 2020 in DansClick 22. This important prize for outstanding choreographic talent was won by choreographer, percussionist and filmmaker Andreas Hannes for his duet The City - A Skipping Piece (2018) and the duo Roshanak Morrowatian & Mami Izumi, who are collaborating on the solo Polished (2019). The program is framed by video portraits of the makers.
Andreas Hannes has specialized in several art disciplines. In addition to being a choreographer and dancer, he is also a filmmaker and percussionist. With his graduation performance The City - A Skipping Piece, he elevates skipping to an exciting art form. He won the Moving Forward project 2018/2019. Two performers start skipping. Paths emerge and geometric shapes become visible, while the dancers move within the imaginary playing field of a city. 'He plays an intoxicating game with repetition and at the same time keeps the ecstasy in check,' said the jury report.
Originally Iranian, Roshanak Morrowatian created the daring, intoxicating and expressive solo Polished about politeness and etiquette with the Japanese dancer Mami Izumi. They delved into the unwritten rules of decency and recognizable behavioral patterns. The jury saw an 'exciting interaction between silence and outburst'.
