De Rode Loper
On Friday 4th October, the Dutch Dance is organising the second De Rode Loper [The Red Carpet] when the festival places the spotlight on the importance of academic and artistic research in the area of dance.
The theme of De Rode Loper this year is the commenoration and transferal of the heritage of the Dutch Society for Dance Research [Vereniging voor Dansonderzoek Nederland or VDO]. The society will, unfortunately, come to an end this year. The Dutch Dance Festival will be celebrating the work of the VDO with a digital selection from the nine editions of Danswetenschap in Nederland, the academic journal of dance in the Netherlands. The National Centre Performing Arts (NCPA), as a disseminator of knowledge and a connector, will then open its digital database and receive the VDO’s archive. The Dutch Dance Festival, VDO and NCPA will be rolling the red carpet out for this special moment to draw attention to the need for, and to encourage, dance research and the importance of disseminating its results for the development of dance in the Netherlands.
