Honey Eavis

Choreographer and theatre maker Honey Eavis won the 'Prize of the Nederlandse Dansdagen Young Audiences' last year. She considers herself a 'hip-hop head' and specializes in black social dance forms, working with large, diverse groups and combining hip-hop with other art forms.

The jury about Honey: “This is a token of appreciation for the potential that Honey Eavis shows to leave a mark on the Dutch youth dance world with her hip-hop dance for a young audience. With her hip-hop dance for children, she taps into a new audience, linking her own experiences with the environment of the young target group.”

Dr. KNUS is a short, interactive hip-hop dance performance for children between 4 and 8 years old. In this performance, the audience and the dancers search for a solution to their major problem; the light is out!

The children are invited into the dark world of the two dancers. Their world was not always dark; once it was illuminated by a thousand lights. But now there are only a few left. Can they find a solution together before the last light goes out?

Children have had a very difficult time during the corona pandemic due to the lack of school, hobbies, family and friends. Dr. KNUS is about finding the light in yourself (with help from others) in dark times.

The inspiration for this performance was the discovery of a secret tunnel full of old graffiti during the first lockdown. Although it was a dark and scary place, it was also a beautiful place full of memories of times gone by.
