Dutch Dance Festival
1-6 October 2019
Experience, explore and even dance yourself at the Dutch Dance Festival. Every year the festival brings the very best of Dutch dance to Maastricht, from urban dance to ballet and from modern dance to the avant-garde.
Six days of dance in Maastricht
The 22nd Dutch Dance Festival starts on Tuesday 1st October when the very best of Dutch dance will be in Maastricht to celebrate its unparalleled diversity and quality with audiences for six whole days.
From masters to up and coming talent
The Dutch Dance Festival offers the entire palette from classical ballet and modern dance to urban dance and performance art. It presents performances at 20 unique locations across the city, with the Theater aan het Vrijthof as its vibrant heart. For six whole days, Maastricht is the place where masters, promising talent and the public meet at performances, open studios, masterclasses, lectures, films and warm-ups. Just like last year there will be another extra festival day so that by 2020, there will be an entire week of Dutch dance.
Premieres and dance awards
A number of exclusive premieres will be presented at this year’s festival, including the world premiere of unmute by the choreographer Keren Levi and composer Yannis Kyriakides. Other high points are Masterworks (previously known as the Dutch Dance Festival Celebration) and the Dutch Dance Festival Gala. And you can be there too!
Keep an eye on the website because you will be able order tickets for select productions from 11th May. Ticket sales for the entire festival will begin on Wednesday 3rd July. Theater aan het Vrijthof subscribers and Friends of the Dutch Dance Festival have priority and will be able to buy their tickets from 7th May and 1st July respectively.
