Cuentos de Azúcar (Sugar Tales)
International Flamenco superstar Eva Yerbabuena returns to the Netherlands.
The Spanish artist presents her latest show during the Flamenco Biënnale, Cuentos de Azúcar (Tales of Sugar), where she pursues a dialogue between flamenco and traditional music from the Island of Amami (Japan). Deep flamenco singing merges with the shima uta (island song) through the rich voice of Anna Sato, that evokes the spirits of her native Amami. Japanese Taiko drums ‘battle’ with flamenco rhythms and, of course, Yerbabuena’s impressive percussive footwork.
In collaboration with Flamenco Biënnale.
