Joost Vrouenraets will be presenting the world premiere of M.A.D. at the Dutch Dance Festival. In this brand new production, the dancer/choreographer explores, in his own words, the ‘anatomy of madness, in respect of Shakespeare’s Hamlet and the spine’.
M.A.D. concludes Joost Vrouenraets research for the Master of Choreography at CODARTS Rotterdam and Fontys School of Fine and Performing Arts in Tilburg. This ‘joint masters degree’ between the two schools is one of the few masters for choreography in the world. The audience in Maastricht was able to catch a glimpse of Vrouenraets’ work in progress and now they will be able to see the premiere of M.A.D. in the same city. This curious but very specific piece marks the beginning of long-term research by Vrouenraets of not just artistic, but social and scientific relevance and urgency.
