NDD - Louis Wallecan - Lil’ Buck Real Swan

The jookin is a street dance of Memphis associated to hip hop. Lil'Buck started at 12 learning a few steps with his sister, he mastered the dance and studied ballet thanks to a scholarship, until one day Spike Jonze, by chance, recorded him dancing to the classic piece "The Swan" played by cellist Yo-Yo Ma. The video became viral, and so began the sky-rocket rise of Lil'Buck, touching stardom, rubbing elbows with Madonna, Cirque du Soleil and Versace. This is the uplifting story of the cheerful Lil'Buck, behind which are hidden good portions of passion and discipline.

With director Louis Wallecan and his team, Lil' Buck returned to that location, and to other defining places of his childhood, such as the parking lots where he and his friends danced, the balletschool and his mother's house. In addition to archival footage and interviews, the film also contains many dance scenes on location, in which the deserted parking lots, sidewalks and alleys of nighttime Memphis form the backdrop.
