Tenor saxophonist, bandleader and composer Jasper Blom hardly needs an introduction. He is considered one of the most important tenor and soprano saxophonists of the Dutch jazz scene and as a composer he strives for a synthesis of jazz, pop, classical and improvised music.
With this he has already won the European Jazz Awards twice. Starting in 2019 he may also call himself the winner of the prestigious Buma Boy Edgar Prize. Blom has played with greats like Chet Baker, George Duke and Nat Adderley, toured all over the world with his quartet and is a welcome guest with famous ensembles such as the Metropole Orchestra and the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw.
Last year the pianist Pablo Held impressed in Maastricht with his musical spontaneity and a sound all his own. Traditional setlists went overboard and were replaced by flowing improvisations of an elegant modernity. Not for nothing was the Pablo Held Trio described by John Scofield as 'one of the best groups of today's music'.
