Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw
& Sabrina Starke
THE STORY OF NINA SIMONE
Together with singer-soul-writer Sabrina Starke, the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw explores the frayed edges of Nina Simone's wonderful and very personal oeuvre. She is an important source of inspiration for Starke, who touches everyone's heart with her melodious and powerful voice.
The Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw is an absolute world-class big band. With a rock-solid rhythm section and ditto horns, they tour the world with great (inter)national soloists. Enjoy 'Feeling Good', 'My Baby Just Cares For Me', 'Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood', 'Ain't Got No - I Got Life' and much more beauty in this tribute to the unforgettable jazz singer and human rights activist Nina Simone. The programme is so strong that everyone will be convinced, jazz lover or not.

Richard Galliano
New York Tango Trio
Richard Galliano Accordeon, bandoneon
Sébastien Giniaux Guitar, cello
Diego Imbert Double bass
Richard Galliano is an accordeon and bandoneon virtuoso and composer who plays a broad scale of music, from classical to jazz. In 1980 he met the Argentinian composer and bandoneon legend Astor Piazzolla, founder of the Tango Nuevo. Influenced by Piazzolla, Galliano used Tango Nuevo as the base for a French variant: the New Jazz Musette.
Richard Galliano maakte meer dan 50 albums en werkte o.a. samen met Chet Baker, Wynton Marsalis, Toots Tielemans en Serge Gainsbourg.
Many of his songs have gained the status of French musical heritage: Allée des brouillards, Des voiliers and Vie Violence. With the same ease, he works on a classical repertoire of albums, dedicated to Bach and Mozart. Richard Galliano is the only accordeonist under the prestigious classical music label Deutsche Grammophon.
"Galliano, of course, is a master of this genre, and a virtuoso of the accordion."
