UITbalie (box office)
You can contact the UITbalie for all information and questions regarding ticket sales and performances. You can contact the UITbalie by telephone or email during the theatre's opening hours.
Seating categories
Theater aan het Vrijthof offers three categories of seating for most performances in the Papyruszaal: Band B, Band A and Premium. Premium seats are located in rows 4 and 12 and in rows 1 and 2 of the balcony. Band B seats are located in row 12 of the balcony.
From the 2025-2026 season onwards, Philzuid will work with three categories: Premium, Band A and Band B. The classification of these three categories differs from the category classification of Theater aan het Vrijthof.
Ticket delivery
During the ordering process, you can choose between e-tickets and tickets by post. If you choose e-tickets, you will receive them by email immediately after payment. You can have e-tickets scanned from your smartphone upon arrival at the theatre. If you want to receive the tickets by post, you will pay €3 shipping costs. If you purchase tickets by telephone or online within seven days prior to the performance, you can choose to collect the tickets at the UITbalie.
To avoid queues at the box office, we request that you book tickets online, even on the evening of the performance.
Collecting tickets
Tickets for performances and concerts at Theater aan het Vrijthof can be collected from the UITbalie during regular opening hours before the start of the performance. Tickets for performances at other venues can be collected from the UITbalie at Theater aan het Vrijthof until the day before the performance. If you wish to collect your tickets at the venue, you can do so from 45 minutes before the start of the performance.
Payment options
Online, you can pay with iDEAL, Bancontact, VVV Gift Card, Credit Card, Podium Cadeaukaart, online credits (such as the Refund Credit) and the Nationale Kunst en Cultuur Gift Card (NKCC). At the UITbalie, you can pay in cash, by debit card, credit card, VVV Gift Card, Theater- en concertbon, online credit (such as the Refund Credit), Podium Cadeaukaart and the Nationale Kunst en Cultuur Gift Card (NKCC).
Returning or exchanging tickets
You can exchange your tickets for tickets to another performance free of charge up to 24 hours* before the start of the performance, or have the value of the tickets converted into an online refund credit in your online account (My Theatre account). You can easily cancel your tickets yourself digitally in your online account, and you will immediately receive a refund credit.
If you choose to return the tickets (without exchanging them or converting them into an online refund credit), you will pay a €6 administration fee per ticket (up to a maximum of €24 per transaction). For season ticket holders, this is a €3 administration fee per ticket (up to a maximum of €12 per transaction). Tickets for performances with a (Euregional) bus trip can be returned up to one month before the performance date.
*A different cancellation period applies to bus trips and (dinner) packages.
Cancelling tickets online
Are you unable to attend a performance for any reason? You can cancel your tickets yourself in your online account. This is possible up to 24 hours* before the start of the performance. You will then immediately receive a refund credit for the purchase amount. This credit can also be found in your online account under “My credits”. The credit remains valid for 2 years and can be redeemed for another performance.
You can cancel your tickets by logging into your account and clicking on “My performances” - “Cancel” for the performance in question. If you only want to cancel some of your tickets for a performance, or would prefer a refund (excluding cancellation fees), you can also fill in the online form under “My performances” - “Cancel”.
*A different cancellation period applies to bus trips and (dinner) packages.
Geniet Later voucher
Do you have a Geniet Later voucher? You can redeem it online when purchasing your tickets, or at the UITbalie at Theater aan het Vrijthof.
Waiting list
Theater aan het Vrijthof uses waiting lists for sold-out performances. If you would like to attend a performance that is sold out, you can register for the waiting list on the performance page. If tickets become available, we will send an email with a payment link to the people on the waiting list, in order of registration. After 24 hours, the email with the payment link will expire and the next person on the list will be contacted.
