Moving Concerts #2

Through this recital, Duo Naqqāli brings to life the many faces of womanhood, from youthful love to tragic fate, from lost grandeur to biting wit.

Schumann’s “Frauenliebe und Leben” captures the innocence and devotion of first love, while his “Gedichte der Königin Maria Stuart” recounts the heartbreaking destiny of a queen facing her downfall. Poulenc’s “La Dame de Monte-Carlo” portrays a once-noble woman, now adrift, clinging to faded memories with a mix of elegance and despair. But telling women’s stories would be incomplete without including the voice offemale composers - through Viardot’s onirism, Strohl poetic harmonies and Aboulker’s brilliant satire, we not only hear about women but from them.

After following unconventional paths, Lucas Politi and Zoé Rialan met at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. A deep artistic connection immediately developed between these two musicians, who share the same goal: making classical music accessible to everyone. These storytellers of music and notes are passionate about demonstrating how classical music transcends borders and reaches the most diverse audiences. Since 2023, they have been offering original recitals that combine music, education, and storytelling in a bold and engaging approach that refreshes the way this timeless repertoire is experienced.

Theater aan het Vrijthof has been embracing the arts education programmes in Maastricht for many years. With Moving Concerts, we offer a stage for young talents from Conservatorium Maastrich to present themselves and further develop their skills during a series of Sunday morning concerts.
