Kamerkoor Maastricht en Collegium Instrumentale

In keeping with tradition, Kamerkoor Maastricht, in collaboration with six soloists and its own Collegium Instrumentale, will perform Johann Sebastian Bach's St John Passion.

Just like last year, Bach's masterpiece will be performed at the start of Holy Week, on Palm Sunday, in the Basilica of Our Lady in Maastricht. The artistic direction is in the hands of conductor Hans Leenders.

Experience Bach's St John Passion in the Basilica of Our Lady

Bach chose passages from the Gospel of John to compose his narrative of the Passion: the evangelist narrates, Christ speaks words of wisdom and the other soloists add depth. The choir powerfully interprets the role of the Jewish people, but also uses the chorales for contemplation and reflection.
