In his recital, Italian pianist Gianmarco Moneti tells a life story: that of his good friend Clara. In 2022, she was confronted with the self-chosen death of her father. Moneti tells her story with music that expresses three of Clara's emotions: anger, dissociation, and loneliness.
There is the desolate Piano Sonata No. 2 by Grażyna Bacewicz, still too little known as one of the best Polish composers of the last century. Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco's Adagio and Allegro Furioso from the Piano Sonata follow – and indeed, those fragments of blues in the adagio are surprising. The theme of loneliness can be heard in a surprising selection from Gabriel Fauré's Préludes and Nocturnes. 'We are what we feel. Let us open ourselves up to each other and we will no longer be alone.'
