The BREZZA quintet presents a pocket-sized opera. It has selected the most beautiful arias and instrumental interludes from Händel's early opera Rinaldo and performs an intimate version for five instruments, in which the viola da gamba rivals the human voice.
The musicians were inspired by a historical discovery in The Hague: opera hits by Georg Friedrich Händel, arranged into chamber music by his contemporaries. BREZZA, founded during its members' stay at the renowned early music institute Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, is a versatile ensemble specializing in historically informed performances of 17th- and 18th-century music. The ensemble won both the Audience Award and the Utrecht Early Music Festival Prize at the International Van Wassenaer Competition in 2024.
