Philhalloween
Philzuid

Halloween evokes dark scenes and unexpected twists and turns. Philzuid brings a programme full of haunting atmosphere and musical tension.
The evening begins with The Sorcerer's Apprentice by Paul Dukas, a compelling tale of a student who cannot control magic, with dramatic consequences. The magic continues in Weinberg's Trumpet Concerto, which varies extremely in effects. Shostakovich described it as a ‘symphony for trumpet and orchestra’. And that is in good hands with top trumpeter Simon Höfele, who in no time rose to become one of the most prominent trumpeters of his generation. ‘His sound is irritatingly beautiful,’ SWR2 wrote. And we conclude with a hallucinatory journey through obsessive love, madness and an eerie witch's sabbath. Precisely, the ingredients for Hector Berlioz's much-loved Symfonie fantastique. A concert full of musical tension and dark beauty, ideal for a good scary experience.
