Pianoromantiek en sprookjeswerelden
Philzuid

Romantic Robert Schuman created some of the most beautiful piano works. His own career as a pianist fell apart due to an injury, but he inspired his wife Clara - one of the greatest pianists of her time - to create wonderful performances.
Together they impressed with refined compositions, in which the interplay between orchestra and piano was always perfectly balanced. At this concert, French pianist Cédric Tiberghien highlights two of Schuman's lesser-known piano concertos. These intimate works show a subtle, sophisticated approach to sound and melody that call for a refined balance between orchestra and pianist. Something Duncan Ward is well entrusted with.
In addition, Philzuid explores the musical heritage of Antonín Dvořák. The latter found inspiration in Karel Erben's Bohemian folk tales full of colourful characters and exciting twists. Led by their chief conductor, Philzuid performs two of Dvořák's symphonic poems: The Wood Dove and The Golden Spinning Wheel. Works brimming with lively melodies that transport you to a fairytale world where the story shines through in every note.
