Dancing Protest
Arts Umbrella X Viewmaster Projects X Nederlandse Dansdagen

PROTEST is an exhibition featuring 27 video and media artworks about how demonstrations and public protests take place and are shared in public spaces and online. How do video artists relate to images of protest in the public domain?
The 27 works show penetrating, emotional, intense, visually overwhelming, factually confrontational or poetically tranquil media installations, projections or screens. For the viewer, the exhibition offers a reflection on the phenomenon of protest and invites you to take a position on the staged, collected and recorded images of protests and demonstrations.
On Thursday, 9 October, students from the Arts Umbrella Dance Company will surprise the audience with special choreographic interventions in the PROTEST exhibition. The young Canadian students will respond to the artworks in the exhibition with dance and movement, blending dance and visual art into a moving experience.
