Let Introdans fill you with fire for the winter months – thanks to the large-scale dance production Carmen by Spanish choreograph Gustavo Ramírez Sansano.
This passionate family show features a mix of modern dance, flamenco and the paso doble. It’s a contemporary dance version of the world-famous audience favourite about the temperamental Carmen, who’ll let herself be shackled by nothing and nobody. Ramírez Sansano took Picasso’s work as his source of inspiration, with black-and-white stage design and costumes, and with music by Georges Bizet. It’s a fantastic theatrical dance production for one and all!
Choreographer Gustavo Ramírez Sansano (1978, Spain) began his career as a dancer, performing for the Nederlands Dans Theater among others, but he has long since become a sought-after dance creator. His tough, cool and also seductive version of Carmen has become a global hit since its première in 2012. All over the world, many young hearts have been conquered by this contemporary Carmen. The mild-mannered soldier Don José falls for the fiery Carmen, but she doesn’t want to commit to just one man.
Passion and emotion fly like sparks from the stage, helped by the relatively simple black-and-white stage design inspired by the work of Picasso.
