NDT 2

NDT 2 presents two premieres this season: the world premiere of Kill Your Darlings by Imre and Marne van Opstal and the NDT premiere of SAABA by Sharon Eyal & Gai Behar.

Following The Point Being (2023), NDT 2 welcomes new associate choreographers Imre van Opstal & Marne van Opstal for the world premiere of Kill Your Darlings. Since leaving NDT as dancers and starting their careers as choreographers, the siblings have managed to distinguish themselves as outspoken creators with a raw and emotional style. In their new creation, they explore how spaces affect our minds: how a space can liberate us, but also limit us. With distinct décor and their intriguing movement language, they show us that sometimes we can feel big and invincible, but at the same time small and puny in relation to the rest of the world.

The worlds Sharon Eyal & Gai Behar create on stage can be called unique, intoxicating and intensely immersive. In I dreamt, it was, you are invited to step into the universe of SAABA (2021). This beloved work was created for GöteborgsOperans Danskompani, but NDT 2 now presents it in its own revamped version. SAABA exudes passion and vulnerability, seducing with hypnotic movements, spherical lighting design and composer Ori Lichtik's irresistible groove. This work is a powerful example of Eyal's genius and idiosyncratic voice, with which she fuses classical ballet and contemporary dance into something supernatural. Irresistible!
