Less is more
Introdans

Introdans presents Less is More, reflecting simplicity, tranquillity and momentum. An evening of dance heritage in motion, by leading choreographers Hans van Manen, Lucinda Childs and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. Plus two new works by Igor Bacovich & Iratxe Ansa and Fernando Melo, who belong to a new generation of international creators. In their own way, they all understand the art of omission.
Hans van Manen - Squares
This masterpiece has been part of Introdans' repertoire for 30 years and is considered one of the best creations by Van Manen. An elegant light frame above the shiny black dance floor defines the dancers and their white costumes. Erik Satie's music sets the minimalist tone.
Lucinda Childs - Canto Ostinato
Introdans cherishes the repertoire of the renowned Childs, the American ‘queen of minimalist dance’. Maximally dancing to minimal music, her work demands the utmost from the dancers. For the audience, Canto Ostinato actually has a meditative effect.
Fernando Melo - New work (world premiere)
The grand gestures and muse-like simplicity in Brazilian Melo's work are appealing. For this new choreography, Melo collaborates with Arnhem-based Fillip Studios for a magical and theatrical digital staging.
Igor Bacovich & Iratxe Ansa - New work (world premiere)
The lyrical formal language of Italian-Spanish duo Bacovich and Ansa impresses. For this new choreography, they collaborate with Spanish set designer Marta Pazos. Colour is the aesthetic starting point in her staging.
Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui - Fractus V
Versatile Flemish-Moroccan choreographer Cherkaoui uses Alan Watts' philosophy of letting go of worrisome thoughts. In this short excerpt from the choreography Fractus V, dancers reflect on Watts' words.
