The Lighthouse

AN ODE TO ART
The Lighthouse presents local talent from different backgrounds and institutes to unify the art scene of Maastricht. The program presents works by amateurs, students and professionals in the Performing Arts on a scale from experimental to polished endproducts.
A collaboration between Vrijthof Theatre and curator Yala Claessens for the community to benefit from the connecting and enlightening power of art. The topic of BELONGING weaves the thread throughout the evening.

Shu Jantje
(iArts alumnus) presents Expressions of a Black Man combining dance and spoken word to share his story about identity, vulnerability and expressing emotions as a black man.
Myla Gonzalez Alonso
Spoken word artist, recites new work on the topic of belonging. A short moderated after-talk by Yala to reflect on belonging.
Lila Grootaers
(student performance at the theatre academy) presents I love to love, about celebrating women in a world created by and for men, and exploring how language holds emotional and social power through an embodied dialogue of sound, body, and poetry.
