Danskerk | Dans: Right Now!

On Saturday 4 October, the iconic Sint Janskerk will transform into a Dance Church for one day. In this peaceful, almost magical location, dance can be experienced in its purest form. Without illusion, decor or theatre lighting. The audience is close to the dance floor and the dancers; so close that the smallest details become visible. In all their humanity and vulnerability, you will feel the dancers crawl under your own skin.

Dans: Right Now! presents young makers from Limburg who are making their mark nationally and internationally. This year, you will see Unveiling Echoes by Bo Jacobs & Zoë Greten and The embrace by Marika Meoli. In addition, you get to experience a new, groundbreaking residency by CLASHLAB.

Unveiling Echoes

Unveiling Echoes is a dance duet exploring the concept of human mirrors. A poetic dialogue between two bodies, where the boundary between self and other dissolves. The dance exposes how we often struggle against what is reflected back at us. The reflection uncovers the shadow sides of a human: our fears, shortcomings, and hidden desires. In accepting what we see inside ourselves and others, we find the key to deep connection.

Marika Meoli
The embrace

The Embrace explores the power and intimacy of the embrace. Two bodies in continuous contact - skin to skin, limbs entangled, muscles gliding and interweaving in a persistent duet of connection. In an age of increasing digital interaction and individualism, this work draws attention to the simplicity and significance of physical closeness.

CLASHLAB
Drie makers. Drie disciplines. Eén gedurfde ontmoeting.

What happens when a fashion designer, a choreographer and a musician explore the unknown together? CLASHLAB is a new, groundbreaking residency in which young creators from the worlds of fashion, dance and music meet in the tension between collaboration and artistic experimentation. Not as separate links or in service to each other's work, but as an equal CLASH of disciplines. For seven days, the participants work intensively on one joint work: a performance of approximately 10 minutes in which form research, intuition and cross-pollination take centre stage. Not an end product in the classical sense, but a living work of art that continues to move. Specially developed to travel and resonate within diverse contexts: from festival floors to museum halls.
