Nederlandse Dansdagen presents Open Podium, the ultimate platform where local dance talent steps into the spotlight. Over 100 dancers from dance schools across Limburg take to the stage to share their passion for dance with the audience.
In the past years, Open Podium took place on Sunday morning in the Dansent. This year, the event receives an exciting upgrade: a full-scale evening performance on the main stage of Theater aan het Vrijthof. This is going to be a vibrant evening where both emerging and experienced dancers showcase their best work in a wide range of styles and choreographies.
Experience an evening full of dance, energy, and inspiration!
The evening opens with a group choreography by Sharon Wesseling, nominated for the Dutch Dance Festival Maastricht Innovation Award 2025. This is followed by a series of original, surprising performances by various dance schools and groups, including a piece by Jelle Wabeke, winner of the Dance Award at the Kunstbende Young Creators Festival 2024. The festive finale is presented by dance students from CIOS, joined by selected dancers from the participating schools.
“Open Podium is a place to shine”
— choreograaf Elisa Billy
This year, Billy will be participating with students from both the Herman Broerenschool Roermond and Dansatelier Maastricht. “Our dancers are incredibly proud to be on this stage. But I also see the impact it has on those around them, how special it is to witness someone you know shine like that. I believe everyone can dance, and this stage proves it. For my students to perform on the main stage of Theater aan het Vrijthof is truly special. And I’m just as proud as they are.”
