Imagine: we leave behind our current world, filled with societal unwritten rules. We immerse ourselves in an unknown realm, where we meet each other anew and a new story unites us. Here, six dancers – one deaf and five hearing – speak a single language that transcends words, stimulates all senses, and redefines our way of communicating. With HEAR_ME, Remy Tilburg makes his debut as a choreographer, introducing a groundbreaking movement language that questions and renews how we connect.
With HEAR_ME, Remy shows how we can intuitively return to the essence of our humanity by freeing ourselves from the constant pressure to perform or adopt another identity. According to Remy, this layer of societal expectations hinders us from genuinely connecting with one another.
During the performance, THE_AND Music introduces the innovative SoundShirt technology to the Netherlands. This shirt, equipped with 28 vibrating sensors on the sleeves, chest, and back, translates music, animations, lighting, and choreography into tangible vibrations. This means the music and the entire choreography are physically experienced, making the performance accessible for those who are deaf and hard of hearing.
